The Hope Venture | India | Africa
Did you know that in a place called Kibera in Nairobi, Kenya there are 1,000,000 people living in an area of 1 ½ square miles? Did you know Mumbai (formerly Bombay), India, has the largest concentration of poverty in the world?
Kind of hard to think much about that when we woke up this morning in a big bed, in a big house, used the hot water that came out of both our sink and our shower which is in one of our bathrooms where we also had a working toilet, then looked in our closet for something to wear out of what felt like nothing to wear but really was a vast array of options, then ate whatever we felt like which we had bought at a large supermarket when we drove there in one of our cars and … you get the picture.
The truth is many of us have plenty. We don’t think that’s wrong. What we think is that many of you are able and would want to help people in places like Kibera or Mumbai if you just knew a good way to do that.
We hope to add to the quality of your life by helping you add to the quality of someone else’s life. We are a link.
The Hope Venture was officially formed in the fall of 2009 in Lincoln, NE. We work with trusted local nationals in Africa and in India where we have been building relationships for over 15 years.
Imagine being able to provide a year’s supply of educational materials to a boy or girl in Tamil Nadu, India. Or helping provide shelter for orphans and others dying on the streets of Bangalore. Or helping girls be trained in life skills that will help them escape prostitution in Mumbai. You can do that… and so much more.
We invite you to browse our projects. Explore our mission statement and investigate our financials. See if what we do lines up with what YOU want to do.
There is joy in helping bring hope where there is such desperation.
Join us. Come help lives find hope.
